Reliable dog breed information
Do you think a persons choice of dog breed is any reflection on their personality?
I have a little dog that's just a happy little fuzzball that's like me.I know a woman who is very cold and unfriendly and she has 2 dobermans.Do you think people pick dogs similar to who they are? What's your dog like? What are your experiences?
What are the Quebec laws on dog breeds?
I am planning to move into a house real soon and I will be rescuing a dog which will mostly be a pit bull and I know they are considered dangerous and some cities don't accept these dogs and other dogs. I tried to search on the web and I had no such luck so I need your help. I don't know where exactly I am going to move but it will mostly be on the South Shore. ex Brossard, Greenfield Park... Thanks
Good big dog breeds for my grandparents?
My grandparents have been faithful to the Rottweiler their entire lives, so it was hard for them to come to the conclusion that they simply didn't have the physical strength to raise another Rott. Their last one died just a month ago. R.I.P Axel They really want another dog though, so they gave me the job of finding a suitable breed. I'd like some help in what direction to look though. And also, my Grandfather doesn't want a mutt, a shelter dog, or an adult dog. He doesn't want to pay for other people's mistakes, which is fair enough really. I'm happy with my shelter dog though.Anyway, they are both 78 years old and are of good health, but my grandfather had a small stroke two years ago, so he is a little weak. They go for several walks a day, love hiking in the woods and swimming. They live in a small house, but have a pretty big garden. They want a medium large dog that isn't too hyper, but still loves to go for walks. I was hoping to find a more docile breed, as the problem with Rottweilers is that they require strong, clear alpha owners, and they are not sure they can do that anymore. My grandmother also want a breed that are good guard dogs, as she loved knowing no burglar would leave their house with all limbs attached. That isn't really necessary though.Would just like to add, should something happen to my grandparents, they have three children and four grandchildren who would be happy to take their dog.
Any large, low-dander dog breeds?
Can anyone give me a list of large, low dander dog breeds? I don't mind shedding I don't have a problem with dog hair , it's the dander that gets me.Preferably no poodles not too fond of those curly hair types or designer dogs you know, labradoodles and the like. I don't believe that they're really hypoallergenic at all .
Which dog breeds do you think may be banned next?
just out of interest as there was stuff on the news about banning a few more breeds of dogs.i think maybe staffordshire bull terriers, mainly because of their use as a status symbol.
What dog breed is best for me? A Doberman pinscher or an rottweiler?
I want a short haired guard dog who is intelligent, brave and obedient. Since I am in place where is really hot all the time 33C i don t want a breed with long hair, anyways longhair breeds are more difficult to maintain. And i also want the dog to be active, to have stamina, because i like riding bikes and horses and I want a dog who can hang out by my side. Oh and also for guarding a huge lot.
Stereotypically, What is the meanest dog breed.?
I posted another question on here similar to this. By asking this question I failed to make clear that I wanted to know what dog is stereotypically the meanest dog. Set aside that humans make them mean I already know that .
What are some dog breeds that are easy to housebreak?
Now whenever I've asked a question in this section I always get hostile responses. I asked a question about dog breed traits and all I got was 'YOU HAVE TO TRAIN IT DUMBAS 'AT THE END OF THE DAY certain breeds have certain traits Like bearded collies are notorious for bouncing about and jumping. So I'm NICELY asking if theres a breed or group that is IN GENERAL easier to house train. Like I really like Basset Hounds, I like all dogs in the hound group really, but they are statistically hard to house train. Since this will be my first dog, I have zero experience about training puppies. Not saying I haven't had dogs or experience with dogs in the past, but this will be MY dog, just me and the dog, so I have no 'from day one' experiance. I know housebreaking is all about training and hard work good thing I am a night owl but yeah, as I said apparently some breeds are better than others. So I'm asking, NICELY. Thanks in advance. Yes as you can probably tell I am a cat person through and through, but I would like a dog to take up my spare time for exercise. I need an exercise partner. I don't think my cat can handle a workout Phew, not as hostile as the last lot, thanks, I can breathe a little easier.
The dog breed came out to be something else than I was told?
I have recently adopted a dog that was supposed to be a boxer from boxer rescue. They take fees differently by whether the dog is purebred or not. Mix is $150 and purebred is $350 Of course I paid for the fee of " purebred" . However, she was a mix of pit bull and boxer. I am not trying to take her back because she is not a boxer. She is my family and needless to say, she is staying with me no matter what.My question is should I tell them about it that my dog was not a purebred like they told me?I am litle upset that they gave me a false information......Oh no, I don't need any money back. I was just upset that they did not tell me the truth. I had a doubt even before I adopted her but they kept telling me that it is a boxer. I just did DNA test for her and came out to be she is a mix.I really think that they should have just asked me to donate some money than lying to me like this. And they are a boxer and boxer mix rescue group, i would have expected them to know little better about boxer IF they really didn't know if she was mixNo she is not a baby. She is already 4 years old.

What dog breed should I get?
I'm looking for an intelligent breed that's moderately trainable I don't mind having to work with it a little extra . One that requires no more than one walk run per day I've read Vizslas require two . Must be good with kids and other animals. I live in a small city in Texas and it can get pretty hot and humid. I also don't have a huge back yard, about 1 2 acre. Lastly, I'm not looking for any toy breeds. If you need any more information just ask and I'll add it.
Dog breed question that's it?
People keep telling me things i already know so i figured i should restate the question so its easier. I will go to the shelter first to look for a dog. but im asking about breed specifics because my apartment complex is very specific. I have a large two bedroom apt with a master bedroom and an empty bedroom a large living room dining room and kitchen and a decent sized balcony, there will be space for it to run around the house, there is also a large park in my apartment complex for pets to roam and it will be taken daily for walks runs. I have had a many dogs before and know the costs and work of one. now my question isIs there a general breed i can look for in the shelter thatis around 20lbsis generally sturdy and energeticand doesn't shed a large amount, though ill deal with getting it trimmed if its a good dog so that's not too important please just answer that, i dont need to know anything else im just looking to go into the shelter with an idea of what i wantIt doesn't necessarily have to be a shelter dog either. I'm just saying i don't need to hear about shelters am asking about dog breed. I might find the one im looking for at a shelter I might find one in the newspaper or a pet shop, i dont know but thats my decision and im just a little tired about asking about something and every answer being " how dare you not just pick a random dog at the shelter im not even going to answer your question because you might not pick up a shelter dog " ive had shelter dogs, ive had purebreds, its just what dog i pick and thank you to people who actually answer my question
Dog Breed Question (MIX BREED)?
I adopted a dog from a person about 4 weeks ago. Was told he was Border Collie Lab mix. 3 4 BC & 1 4 LAB. Vet said yesterday that he looks to be either Chow or Sharpei mix because of his black spotted tongue. I live on a military post and CHOW breed is a prohibited breed in post housing, so I'm needing to know exactly what he is. Anyone with any insight, it would be greatly appreciated Are Chows a good breed to have around when I have a 2 yr old toddler? Are there any other breeds that could have the spotted tongue and cinnamon colored fur? THANK YOU i377.photobucket.com albums oo214 jaclyn velazquez 143.jpgThat would be a link to a picture of him THANKS ALL
